Private guided tour starting / ending in Bucharest Local food and drinks are definitely part of a successful travel experience in a new country. Therefore we want to offer you the right combo between a cultural tour and a food tour in Romania. On the cultural side we will visit the most famous regions of Romania: Transylvania and Bucovina with the best they have to offer. The culinary tour in Romania consists of tasting the food from different regions. We will try the Transylvanian food which is an interesting mix of Romanian, German and Hungarian cuisine and the Moldavian, Bucovinean gastronomy specific for the Eastern Romanian region. Mostly you will have meals served in small restaurants or local guest houses which are serving homemade natural products. These little places use ingredients coming from the local farmers and producers. The food tour in Romania will be completed by our drinks such as plum/pear brandy, fruit liqueurs, beer or wine. All of them being locally produced.

Begin your trip by journeying deep underground to see the enormous caverns of the Unirea Salt Mine. Slanic Prahova Saline is the largest salt mine in Europe. Now the old mine is currently open to the general public, being used as a leisure place. The ventilation of the mine is natural, with a constant temperature throughout the year of 12 degrees Celsius. Then it’s onto Buzau County to marvel at the fascinating geothermal spouts of mud and gas known as the Berca Mud Volcanoes that are rarely found in Europe. Its most spectacular feature is the mud volcanoes, small volcano-shaped structures typically a few metres high caused by the eruption of mud and natural gases. As the gases erupt from 3000 metres deep towards the surface, through the underground layers of clayand water, they push up underground salty water and mud, so that they overflow through the mouths of the volcanoes, while the gas emerges as bubbles.
