Start pedaling heading Catania for about 5 km in a lowland area. Our aim is to warm up our muscles and get acquainted with our road bicycles. Once we have finished the first part of climb of Etna tour, comes a soft hill 5% to 10% for about other 5 km. Starting from Piano Provenzana 1800masl (Etna Nord), the unique slope that currently allows the climb to the summit in safe conditions, with special 4x4 we will arrive to 2825masl (Piano delle Concazze.) From here begins the ascent of about 2h to the main crater rim at an altitude of 3.320masl.
