This combination tour consists of a morning tour of Xunantunich Maya Temple which is located 20 minutes driving distance from San Ignacio Town in the Maya Village of San Jose Succotz. To get to the site one must cross the Mopan River by a hand cranked ferry, which then gives us access to the one mile ascent into one of Belize’s most popular sites. Here you will enjoy sightings of pristine jungle surroundings, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, birds and iguanas. After lunch we head to Barton Creek Cave, which was once used by the Maya as a sacred ceremonial site. This cave is only accessible by canoe and requires minimal physical activity as you glide along gently. The drive to the cave is very scenic, passing through a few Maya Villages along the way. Formations of stalactites and stalagmites found inside are remarkable. This combo tour begins at 8:30am and concludes around 4:30pm. This is a great option for families and fun for all ages.

Our licensed guides will take you deep into the limestone cave known as Nohoch Che'en, ( Jaguar Paw) Sit in comfort in your floating tube and ride the river though this underground cave system, as you glide through the darkness you will hear and see waterfalls from the other caves as they all join into the one main cave system. As we approach Xunantunich, we will ferry cross the Mopan River on a historic hand-cranked ferry, followed by a mile drive to the hilltop site of Xunantunich. The partially-excavated and largest pyramid-El Castillo, stands at 130 ft. above the main plaza floor, offering an impressive 360 degree, panoramic view over the jungle canopy of the Mopan River Valley. We highly recommend climbing to the top of the El Castillo, If possible. Then unto Barton Creek through some beautiful hilly terrains. Barton creek is a natural limestone cave that was once used by Mayans for ceremonial activities. The cave can only be accessed by canoes, After entering the cave about a mile in paddling through the cathedral like chambers and wide passage caverns. You can also take a swim in the clear refreshing blue-like creek.
