What makes this tour unique it that there are no crowds and we are not in bear stands. Viewing is from the boat only. Most often we are the only boat out there. Additionally, we do not book more than 8 guests on this adventure to ensure unobstructed views and a quiet setting for bears. Upon departure, we travel 2 hours north of Campbell River into the heart of bear country through vast fjords with whimsical waterfalls for you to enjoy while your guide keeps a keen eye out for intertidal Black bears! Shortly thereafter, we head to the estuaries in search of Grizzly bears. This is a spring bear tour and only books May & June when bears are emerging from hibernation and their spring foraging habits are predictable. They are not feeding on salmon this time of year. Note: Departure times vary due to tides. If your departure time changes we will contact you prior to the trip. Please check for our messages the day before, or contact us if you are going out of service.

Surround yourself in flourishing rainforests, windswept sand-dunes and endless beaches. Visit the totems that honour 10,000 years of history and meet a Haida Watchman. Sit down to a traditional feast of seafood, fresh from the ocean. A globally unique ecosystem that partially escaped the last ice-age, Haida Gwaii is an archipelago of more than 150 islands that evokes comparisons to the equally isolated and biologically diverse Galapagos Islands. The landscape ranges from sand beaches and dunes on the east coast to the rocky, surf-battered west coast and from muskeg lowlands on Graham Island to the rugged, eroded Queen Charlotte Ranges of Moresby Island. The tranquil environment of Haida Gwaii is occasionally interrupted by dramatic natural processes such as violent storms, big surf, landslides and earthquakes. While still a microcosm of coastal British Columbia, these events continue to alter the landscape and the ecosystems of the islands to give Haida Gwaii its own identity.

This is not your average walk in the forest. This walk helps create wellness through exposure to phytocydes released into the air by the evergreen trees to protect themselves from harm. These phytocydes trigger our bodies to create additional white blood cells which are our "fighter" cells. So by the trees protecting themselves, they also protect us. In addition, "Twenty to 30 minutes of nature three times a week, or as a regular part of your weekly schedule may open the door to many long-term emotional, mental and physical benefits" said Dr. Jason Strauss, director of geriatric psychiatry at Harvard-affiliated Cambridge Health Alliance. So imagine the benefits after two hours! Interestingly, in British Columbia, doctors are able to prescribe time in nature through the ParX program.
