A thrilling ascent. Joy, wonder and admiration for the magnificent nature of this corner of the Sibillini Mountains National Park. The ascent from Foce di Montemonaco to Lake Pilato is one of the most spectacular routes in central Italy. Really interesting is the valley of the lake in which are still visible traces of ancient glacial cirques and where the Pizzo del Diavolo dominates the landscape. Lake Pilate is called with a touch of irony the "lake with glasses" for the shape of its complementary and communicating twin-lake in periods of greater presence of water.
