These horses have their roots in the Arabian Peninsula, specifically in the regions of present-day Saudi Arabia, ancient Iraq and Egypt. During the Islamic expansions, these elite horses were introduced into North Africa, eventually reaching Morocco. Their lineage has been carefully preserved over the centuries, with particular attention to genetic purity, making the Arabian Thoroughbred Asil one of the most prestigious lineages in the world. King Hassan II was instrumental in the preservation and promotion of Thoroughbred Arabian Asylum horses.
