Landmannalaugar is one of the most visited places in the highlands of Iceland. The colorful rhyolite mountains, a rock type that creates a spectrum of amazing colors. A raven black lava field of Laugahraun and the endless options of beautiful hiking trails, combined with a after hike soak in the hot natural pool makes Landmannalaugar a unreal place to visit. Originally, those who stopped at Landmannalaugar, were settlers crossing the barren highlands of Iceland, but today, mostly tourists after an exciting day. On the way to and from Landmannalaugar, we will stop at a few places to stretch our legs and take in the beauty of the more remote places Iceland has to offer. (a few sights listed down below.) And some we see from a distance during our drive. When we arrive in Landmannalaugar, we will have a option of some light/moderate hiking, soak in the hot spring, or both. The Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve is on of the most colourful and beatiful areas in Iceland. Here the volcanic activity has shaped the landscape in such a way that we have to practise our WOW a lot for this tour. The drive to the highland is quite beatiful - driving through the farmland of South Iceland and then the driving through the highland to Landmannalaugar is a scenic drive with everchanging landscape on both sides. On the hike you will see lava field, geothermal hot spring area, more colours than you can imagine and experience one of the best day hikes of your life. To dip into a natural hot spring pool after the hike gives the day a new meaning.

Trip information SELJALANDSFOSS, EYJAFJALLAJOKULL AND BREIDAMERKUR Driving along the south coast we will see where the rugged landscape offers up first hand evidence of nature’s power. Few words can describe the beautiful landscape of the south. Waterfalls such as Seljalandsfoss you can walk behind, black sandy beaches, mountains, high and steep cliffs, glaciers and numerous lava formations such as column basalt that some might think that are handmade. We will be passing old and new farms, agricultural livestock and bird life and perhaps see a puffin or two. Visit the surrounding of Eyjafjallajokull that erupted in 2010 (and closed down all air traffic over the Atlantic Ocean).

Landmannalaugar sits on the Mid-Atlantic ridge, the landscape is formed greatly by an eruption happening in 1477 and is still considered highly active, a super-perfect spot for photos and adventure. The tour will take us from Reykjavík on a 4WD car to Landmannalaugar, we will cross over rivers as we embark into the highlands. We will go over some history of course as this wonder is rich in interesting facts and stories but mainly were going to have an amazing time. Our main focus once we cross the rivers into the highlands will be a local hike and relaxing in a natural hot spring.
