We explore the local villages on the Mekong Island and learn about their lifestyle as much as the silk weaving that it is the main job for them after the farming or fishing. You will follow Highway 4 all the way until you reach the Kirirom junction from where the road becomes slightly bumpier. Take a turn first towards Chambok community and explore one of Cambodia’s first community based tourism projects. Enjoy a 30 minute trek through the forest to the Chambok waterfall and then, you will pass through the gate of Kirirom and drive all the way up to the top to admire the views of the surrounding forest and mountain ranges. Take a stroll along some of the many trails towards the lake (20 mins). The pine forest is of particular interest and offers a relaxing walk and there are numerous streams and rapids in the park to be visited as well. Return to Phnom Penh after a refreshing day in the national park.

You will travel to Udong along Tonle Sap River. The drive will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes depending on the traffic. During the drive, you can enjoy the view of the typical Cambodian countryside with our window seats. Udong is 40km northwest of Phnom Penh and was the capital of Cambodia for 250 years. In 1866 Udong was abandoned for the sake of Phnom Penh, which was suggested by the French colonial masters as the new capital. You will climb the hill from the back of the ridge and go down the hill from the 509 steps stairway. Several religious structure and royal stupas which contain the remains of several great Khmer Kings dot the ridgeline of the hill. The summit of Phnom Oudong offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside; the beautiful Kandal Temple peacefully sits in the middle of plains and rice fields. On the way down the hill, you might encounter some monkeys. Our bus/van will wait for you at the bottom of the hill and then heads to Silversmiths Village.

Phnom Prasith and Phnom Reap Temples are located approximately 25 kilometers from Phnom Penh. The journey itself offers views of natural lakes, rice fields, traditional houses and locals going about their daily lives. Phnom Prasith is situated on the top of a hill providing breathtaking views of the surrounding country side. The temple is on the eastern summit of two hills and visitors will enjoy the rich architecture, stupas, sculptures and art works including a large reclining Buddha reaching nirvana. This is an enjoyable trip to explore the lifestyle of the people on the island, which is a traditional weaving village. The boat trip to the island will take one hour. On the way, you will see the stilted houses, fishing villages, Mekong and Four Faces Rivers. When we get to the island, we will take a Tuk Tuk around the village, so we can see the mango and banana plantations and the different crops that are grown on the island. You will also visit a Silk Farm, Buddhist monastery and the children in a local school (subject to the school schedule that day).
