Massive ride. Unfforgettable day trip ! Departing from Marseille we will leave for the day in the Calanques until Cassis. Wow effect guaranteed ! The route takes place almost exclusively on forest tracks (DFCI). We ride in particular through the Sormiou belvedere, the Luminy area, the Chalabran valley, the Oule de la Gardiole pass and the Calanque de Port Miou. We take a good break in Cassis to eat and enjoy swimming. Plan a picnic for this outing. It is also possible to eat in Cassis (restaurants or snack bars). Because if you go to the lavender fields to take pictures, the golden light is between 8pm and 9:30pm. During the day the light is very strong and it can be very hot. We will leave Marseille at 4:15pm so we can catch the nice sunset when we get to Valensole plateau. The trip to get there is around 1 hour and 20 minutes. You will be surrounded by fields of lavender, the famous Provençal scented plant, abound here. We will also stop in a lavender distillery along the way where you have the opportunity to buy products directly from the producers; and we will leave you some free time in the village of Valensole. The best time for lovers of typical Provençal landscapes to visit is middle of June to end of July, when Valensole plateau is awash with beautiful blue lavender in bloom. It's a sight – and scent – to behold!
