We’ll begin with a gentle drive along the north shore of Loch Ness, stopping briefly at Invermoriston for a stroll by the falls and a visit to the curious Clog and Craft shop. Continuing north west from here, passing beautiful Loch Cluanie with a possible coffee stop at The Cluanie Inn, we'll pass through the majestic mountain landscape of Kintail. We can stop near the foot of the glen to take a look at the site of the Battle of Glenshiel (1719). We then head over the Ratagan pass, taking in some magnificent views of the Five Sisters of Kintail before dropping down to Glenelg. Here we will investigate the famous Glenelg Brochs, two 2,000 year old structures just past the village, before heading for the community operated ferry to take us over the sea to Skye. Returning over the Skye Bridge, we’ll go searching for Highland cattle and palm trees in Plockton! My tour is unique as I am your personal driver/guide and I am a British Army Veteran with over 25 years service in one of the most famous Scottish Highland Regiments of the British Army and I offer a tour experience like no other. You will be met by me a very experienced and knowledgeable guide dressed in kilt or full Jacobite attire. I will then spend the next 8 or maybe 9 hours with you and during this time I will regale you with stories about monsters, legends, battles, castles, heroes and villains. I guarantee that you will feel totally informed and be well entertained throughout the day. A minimum of 2 guests are required for my tours and therefore your booking may be cancelled if this requirement is not met. I will normally let you know at least 7 days in advance if this happens. Options North We met 8.30am and after quick introductions, we travelled North towards Dornoch, then Loch Fleet and Dunrobbin castle, enjoying the castle and the Falconry display within the beautiful grounds. Returning to Dornoch for lunch. In the afternoon enjoying a whisky tasting at Glenmorangie distillery followed by a tour and tasting at Balblair distillery or for those who are not whisky drinkers we can head over to Milliinaires Viewpoint and Falls of Shin Option 2 South to Inverness, Loch Ness and Urquhart castle and culloden battlefield and historic clava cairns. We will start of with a visit to a beautiful Castle, Cawdor Castle which is linked to Shakespeare's Macbeth, but home to the magical, fairy tale castle. It dates from the late 14th century, having been built as a private fortress by the Thanes of Cawdor, with the ancient medieval tower built around the legendary holly tree - wherever you look, Cawdor Castle is steeped in intrigue and history. A short drive from here will take us to the famous site of the last battle fought on British soil, Culloden Battlefield for visit and lunch. Culloden Battlefield has been restored as close as possible to how it was when battle took place in April 1746. There is a fantastic state of the art visitors centre, where we have time to take in over 250yrs of history and artifacts since the Battle. After lunch, a 5 minute drive to the Clava cairns. This is a fascinating historical place dating back to 2000BC. A Clava Cairn is a type of circular chamber tomb cairn from the Bronze Age.

This tour takes in all the "Must See" attractions and destinations in and around Inverness. A day of historic sights, epic views and tall tales awaits! We enjoy lovely views of the Beauly Firth as we head to Beauly Priory. Originally built in the 13th century by monks from Dijon, France, much of the main structure remains. From here we'll head over the hill to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy exploring this fascinating landmark whilst admiring the unrivalled views of Loch Ness. We then pass through Old Inverness, stopping to enjoy the river and more, before heading for Cawdor Castle & Gardens and the 4000 year old Clava Cairns. Our final destination is Culloden Battlefield, site of the last ever battle fought on British soil and where the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion came to its tragic end.
