The Chouf Mountains have three very different things to show you — and all three are within 10 minutes of each other. A presidential palace built by one of Lebanon's most powerful rulers. A medieval castle built by one very stubborn Lebanese man who spent 60 years proving his teacher wrong. And a perfectly preserved Ottoman village that was Lebanon's first capital and still looks the part. One day, three stories — and none of them boring. Beiteddine Palace is the grand one — ornate courtyards, carved cedar ceilings, and an underground Byzantine mosaic museum that stops most visitors in their tracks. Moussa Castle is the one nobody forgets — a full-scale medieval fortress hand-built stone by stone by one man, filled with hundreds of life-size wax figures telling Lebanon's story. And Deir el Qamar is the quiet one — honey-stone streets, a mosque and a church sharing the same square, and mountain views that make you understand why people have been living here for centuries.

You will rise above the Mediterranean at Harissa — riding the cable car to a mountaintop shrine where the view alone is worth the journey. And you will walk through 7,000 years of history in Byblos — an ancient Phoenician city where the past is not behind glass in a museum but alive beneath your feet, in the stones of the streets, and in the fishermen still working the oldest harbour in the world.

Two of Lebanon's most historically rich cities — one private full day from Beirut. Tripoli in the morning: Lebanon's second city, with the finest collection of Mamluk architecture in the country, a 12th-century Crusader citadel, and one of the most authentic medieval souks in the Arab world. Byblos in the afternoon: one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth, with a specialist local guide who knows its 7,000-year archaeological story from the inside. The combination works because the two cities represent entirely different chapters of Lebanese history — Tripoli's Crusader-to-Mamluk-to-Ottoman layering in the morning, Byblos's Phoenician-to-Roman-to-Crusader depth in the afternoon. A private vehicle and knowledgeable local driver are with you throughout. At Byblos, a specialist local guide joins the group — the difference between seeing ancient stones and understanding what they mean.
