The towns of Taroudant and Tiout lie east and south of Agadir under the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, but are difficult to reach independently in a day. This small-group tour makes it easy, with return transport and a guide to shed light on the sights and local culture. Explore the souk and ramparts of Taroudant before visiting Tiout for lunch in the kasbah (fortress) and an optional donkey ride (own expense).
On the way we stop for a few moments to watch the goats climbing the argan trees ... The path leads us past endless orange groves.. Taroudant is a Berber city and was the former capital of the Saadian dynasty before it became Marrakech. In Taroudant we visit the Berber Souk to admire the work of the local craftsmen.. Continue through the city, which is surrounded by a mighty 8 KM long wall. We conclude our visit to Taroudant with a visit to Sultan Salam’s 16th century old palace, a cool wall ...
Lunch consists of tagine, Moroccan couscous, fresh fruit and of course there is our national drink “Nana”, fresh mint tea. After lunch we take a digestive walk, or take a donkey, ( Berber Taxi) to visit a palm grove which protects a large date palm plantation. Afterwards our way leads to a visit to the Kasbah of Tiout.
