The Virunga Cross-Border Expedition is the most expansive journey in the Virunga Ecotours collection, designed for travelers who seek scale, movement, and a deeper understanding of one of Africa’s most diverse ecological corridors.
This privately guided expedition connects Rwanda and Uganda through the Virunga massif, combining two distinct gorilla trekking ecosystems with highland forests, volcanic landscapes, and culturally rich border regions.
The journey includes mountain gorilla trekking in both Volcanoes National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, alongside forest transitions, scenic cross-border drives, and immersive cultural encounters shaped by life in the highlands.
