She has completed the Edomae Sushi Technique Acquisition Course at the Tokyo Sushi School. She applies her culinary skills and proficiency in English to offer an enjoyable and educational Sushi Cooking Lesson in her home. Guests can enjoy an at-home environment in a quiet, residential area of Japan, as they learn how to make four types of sushi. The lesson culminates in a delicious meal that the participants have made themselves. Akemi sources only the best ingredients to make the sushi, including blended rice specially ordered from Hachidaime Gihey in Kyoto (est. 1787) and fresh fish (“neta”) sourced directly from fish markets in Toyosu and Tsukiji. In addition to learning how to make sushi, guests will learn about the history of sushi, essential terminology, and sushi eating etiquette. Even Japanese guests have told us that they learned a lot about their own food culture! Lessons are limited to a maximum of five students, so you will be assured plenty of personal attention. Even if you have never tried sushi before, you can be confident that your hand-prepared meal will be a delight.
We will contact you ahead of the lesson to check whether you will be traveling by car (taxi/uber) or by train. The nearest train station is Sasazuka Station, on the Keio Line. (Approx. 10 min. walk) Many of our guests find us using Google Maps, but we can meet you at the station if you prefer.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
