It is best known as the place where the Honours of Scotland, the Scottish crown jewels, were hidden from Oliver Cromwell's invading army in the 17th century. Due to its breathtaking position, it has inspired writers, painters and film directors. As the castle is closed during winter season, we will be visiting Blair Castle instead.
