The Summer Palace had a private, social and representative function within the royal and imperial residence of Prague. In front of the Summer Palace there is a famous Singing Fountain. Under the reign of Rudolph II the Summer Palace was used for a part of his collection of art and also as a place which an important mathematician and astronomer Tycho de Brahe used as an observatory. Since then the building has also been called the House of Mathematics. It is still used for exhibition purposes.
