The route begins at the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo, a medieval gem in the Parco del Vulture, among history and monastic traditions, visiting the church and the cave.
It continues along woodland trails to the Small Lake of Monticchio, surrounded by beech and holm oak trees, a peaceful place ideal for relaxing and taking photos in nature.
The walk goes on along scenic paths, including the Pista dei Briganti, leading to the Belvedere del Vulture, which offers spectacular views over the lakes and volcanic hills. Along the way, we will also visit the ruins of the Abbey of Sant’Ippolito, a testimony to the medieval past.
You will then reach the Large Lake of Monticchio, known for its calm waters and landscapes, with plants and animals typical of this volcanic area formed millions of years ago by eruptions of Mount Vulture.
The tour ends at a panoramic spot between the two lakes, offering a complete experience among nature, history, and spirituality in the heart of Basilicata.
