The 400-year-old temple is known for its elegant structure and the pillars which are considered to be the most beautiful among the temples is Goa. A beautiful seven-story Deepa Stambha (decorative lamp tower), stands at the gates in the temple complex. The tank (reservoir) in front of the temple is the oldest part of the complex. If you walk down to the right-hand side of the temple you can also see the giant raths (chariots) that are used to parade the deities during the temple’s festival, which takes place in the last week of January or the first week of February.

Francis of Assisi, built in the 17th century , attached to the church is a convent, which has been converted into a museum by the Archaeological Survey of India in 1964. Thanks in part to its renovation in 1665, this graceful building displays a charming mix of architectural styles and intricately carved artwork.
