• Scenic drive to rural herder camp (2–3 hours, off road 30 min) • Traditional welcome with milk tea (suutei tsai) and snacks • Orientation: meet the host family, explore the camp, and settle into your ger • Lunch and rest during the hottest hours • Participate in: o Help set up or repair a ger – learn the structure, wood frame, and felt layers o Fetching water from the nearby well or stream for animals o Preparing dung fuel for the stove (traditional eco-fuel) o Milking cows/goats/horse • Dinner: authentic Mongolian home-cooked on fire meal • Sleep in a cozy ger, Mongolian-style with minimal electricity and no Wi-Fi
• Activities: o Herding livestock with the family (on foot or horseback) o Horse riding lesson or countryside ride (with safety instructions) • Lunch and rest during the hottest hours • Afternoon: o Try traditional games (ankle bones or archery) o Fetching water from the nearby well or stream for animals o Help with food prep for dinner o Make local dairy products: urum, tarag, and aaruul • Dinner: traditional dish (tsuivan or buuz, lapsha, huushuur) • Optional: stargazing under clear skies • Sleep in ger again – candle or battery lighting only
• Final herding session or walk through the steppe • Help collect and store water or fire fuel one last time • Lunch together and farewell photos • Depart back to Ulaanbaatar (arrive ~6:00 PM)
