Cormòns, known as the “capital of Collio”, is a charming Friulian town at the foot of the majestic Monte Quarin. Located a few steps from the Slovenian border, it retains an elegant and suggestive atmosphere of Habsburg influence. It is famous for its great white wines and the rolling hills that surround it.
It is best known for the Plessiva Forest, a green lung with ancient oaks, tall locust trees and chestnut trees. Here is also the Plessiva border crossing, which connects Italy to Slovenia through one of the most renowned wine-growing areas in the region.
Prepotto, Italy
Prepotto is a small and charming hilltop village, known as the home of Schioppettino wine. San Floriano del Collio, Italy
San Floriano del Collio will be the last stop of the tour, a charming hill town known as the “land of grapes and cherries”. From here you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Julian Alps, the Karst and the Friulian plain. The village retains an authentic and evocative atmosphere, perfect to conclude the itinerary in the heart of Collio. The center is dominated by the Formentini Castle, an ancient medieval structure rebuilt after the damage of the First World War.
