For photography lovers, Komlapur Railway Station offers a fantastic opportunity to capture the vibrant morning life on the platform, with scenes of everyday motion and color that define Dhaka’s early hours. As the train glides through rural landscapes, paddy fields, and sleepy villages, you'll witness the countryside waking up — a perfect introduction to slow travel. The quiet rhythm of their work and the serene surroundings offer an intimate glimpse into the daily life of the tea garden.
This unique beverage, crafted with layers of differently flavored teas stacked one atop the other, is a Sreemangal specialty and a delightful surprise for first-time visitors. After breakfast and check out procedure, we’ll begin the day with a guided exploration of Lawachara National Park, one of the last remaining tropical rainforests in Bangladesh. This lush sanctuary is home to an incredible diversity of flora and fauna. Depending on your comfort level, the trek can last between 30 to 60 minutes or even more than that, allowing time to spot rare wildlife such as the endangered Hoolock gibbons, rhesus macaques, and vibrant species of birds fluttering above the forest canopy. The serenity and depth of the jungle make this an unforgettable nature experience. One of the most iconic features of Lawachara is the British-era railway line that cuts through the heart of the forest. In fact, a segment of the Oscar-winning film Around the World in 80 Days was shot right here, making it a unique blend of natural wonder and cinematic history.
The Khashiyas are one of Bangladesh’s most culturally distinctive indigenous communities. As you enter the village, you'll see neat rows of traditional bamboo houses raised on stilts, surrounded by plantations of betel leaf, their primary livelihood. You’ll have the chance to interact with villagers, observe their daily routines, and learn about their ancestral customs, spiritual beliefs, and eco-friendly ways of living—offering a rich and respectful cultural exchange.
With fewer crowds than the popular estates, it offers a more personal and peaceful experience. Walking through the vast stretches of green, you’ll see tea pluckers skillfully harvesting leaves while the sun filters softly through the trees. It’s an ideal spot for photography, relaxation, and immersing yourself in the timeless rhythm of the tea country.

A short walk along the banks reveals birds resting on branches, lotus flowers blooming quietly, and an overwhelming sense of calm. It’s the perfect place to pause, breathe, and connect with nature before wrapping up the Sreemangal adventure.
The highlight of the meal is Shatkora beef curry, a Sylheti delicacy featuring tender meat infused with the bold, citrusy flavor of Shatkora, a wild lemon unique to the region. Served with fragrant rice and fresh seasonal sides, it’s a dish that leaves a lasting impression on your palate and celebrates the rich culinary identity of Sylhet.
