Learn about authentic Rajasthani cooking techniques and special ingredients during this culinary experience.
This is a unique opportunity to learn about lesser-known Rajasthani foods and relax in a beautiful tranquil courtyard filled with greenery and authentic charm.
Start your culinary experience with a walk to Chandpole, the local market. Here, you will get a glimpse of the spice bazaar, a chaotic riot of sights and sounds before returning to learn to cook a Rajasthani meal with your host Usha. Usha lives in a home that has been in their family for more than a century and has been recently converted into a beautiful heritage guest house surrounded by delightful gardens full of melodic songbirds. You will be greeted with a welcome drink served in Usha's beautiful courtyard before you start your cooking class that will be held outdoors (weather permitting) at a cooking station. Learn about the spices and techniques used to cook Rajasthani cuisine before enjoying the meal you helped prepare. On days that he is available, Usha's husband Durga may join you for your meal.
Meet your hosts at their home/heritage guesthouse. Dera Mandawa is located on Sansar Chandra Road, which connects M.I.Road to Chandpole Gate, the entrance to the Pink City. As maps can be confusing in India, it is best to have your driver call your host to ask for directions to their home.
