he birthplace of Echizen pottery, one of the six oldest kilns in Japan. Echizen tiles combine "beautiful colors" with "outstanding strength. Onigawara (ogre tiles) have been decorated on the roof as a guardian deity of the house since olden times. ーHow to makeー 1) Tear clay (about 1kg), round it and make it sharp. 2) Press the clay into the tile mold. 3) Cut off the excess clay with a piano wire and cut out the back side flat. It takes about thirty minutes to one hour to make Onigawara (devil’s tiles). Then take it out and wait for it to dry to complete the process. It takes to dry for about 3 weeks.
