Maya Fish Cooking Experience is an authentic blend of ancient traditions and modern comfort. This hands-on cooking session allows you to prepare fish just as the Maya did thousands of years ago, using organic, locally-sourced spices and cooking it over an open fire. The experience takes place in a newly renovated Maya house, next to a preserved 'Chultun'—a fascinating, ancient refrigeration method. After crafting your meal, you can savor it either in the traditional setting of the Maya house or at the elegant Running W Restaurant, offering a truly unique and immersive cultural dining experience.
In this Maya Cooking Experience, you will learn how to prepare a succulent fish cuisine, in the same manner, the ancient Maya cooked fish thousands of years ago. The fish is cooked on a fire heart and is marinated with local and organic Belizean spices. The cooking session takes place in a newly renovated Maya house, built next to a preserved ‘Chultun’ (a natural refrigerator used by the ancient Maya to preserve food and meats for days), and can be eaten under the Maya House or at the on-site Running W Restaurant.
