Pick-up at your hotel: from here, we travel approximately an hour through the Valle de Lerma to Chicoana, in the heart of Salta’s tobacco region. Passing the picturesque old adobe drying sheds, we arrive at the delightful farm of Cielo Verde for our wine tasting.
Cielo Verde means “Green Sky” and it’s named for its location in an enclave of hills extending up into the Yungas cloud forest, and the famous Cuesta del Obispo (the road to Cachi).
You’ll be received warmly by hosts Carlos and Carla whose 16 hectare estate is also ideal for bird-spotting and short hikes. (Overnight accommodation is also available: contact us for more details.)
This is roughly a five hour half-day, including three hours at the finca, in one of our comfortable VW Amarok 4x4 pick-ups.
Cielo Verde is tucked away on the hills close to Chicoana, on the road to Cachi and the Valles Calchaquies. We will sample their excellent red blend of Tannat and Malbec, accompanied by a white (Viognier or Chardonnay or blend) and mistela, the traditional viscous wine liqueur made in the Salta wine region. This trip is tailor-made to your tastes, with a maximum party of four people, in a private vehicle with an English-speaking driver/guide. This trip offers the option of a barbecue lunch with your wine tasting, or just the visit and tasting.
