Geghard Monastery is part of the UNESCO world Heritage sights together with the Upper Azat Valley. Lake Sevan, second largest high-altitude fresh water lake in the world. Its sole major island (now a peninsula) is home to a medieval monastery providing panoramic views of the whole lake and surrounding mountains. Sevanavank Monastery was built in 9th century and houses one of the 4 remaining Amenaprkich Khachkars. The Monastery is woven into many important historic events and important battles. Dilijan also known as little Switzerland is a small town in the north surrounded by forests and mountains.
