Most travellers base themselves in Port Vila or Tanna Island, and the rhythm of a Vanuatu trip tends to be slow and purposeful. You'll book multi-day stays that bundle accommodation, meals and transfers - a 2 or 3 night Tanna package is standard - then layer in day tours like the Mt. Yasur volcano hike, Yakel village visits, and blue cave exploration. Some days you're with a guide (highly recommended for volcano safety and local insight), other days you rent a van or take a bus to move at your own pace.
