Join us for a captivating and enjoyable class where you can create a beautiful batik tapestry. Batik is a resist painting technique where melted wax is used to draw designs on fabric, followed by vibrant colorful dyes. In this introductory class, you'll learn fundamental techniques and effects while working with traditional tools of this unique art medium. At the end of the class, you'll be able to take your finished tapestry home.
Batik is a form of resist painting where you draw in your designs using melted wax, then paint the fabric with vibrant colorful dyes. In this fun introductory class, you will learn some basic techniques and effects while working with the traditional tools of this unique art medium. You will be able to take your finished tapestry with you at the end of the class. All materials and tools are provided. Participants must be 12 and older. We do ask for a pre-booking on this class so that we can prep materials (the wax can take an hour to melt)
We are located in Picadilly Square in the Creativity Cabin building. A good landmark to look for is the Rainbow Slide, which is directly across from Picadilly Square.
