Piazza Grande, located in the historic center of Arezzo, is an iconic and fascinating place, known for its particular trapezoidal shape and inclined plane. The square dates back to the 12th century, but underwent significant transformations in the 16th century.

The origins of the fortress date back to the medieval period, when the area was already used as a strategic point for the control of the surrounding territory.

This structure, built between the end of the 1st century and the first half of the 2nd century AD, reflects the Roman influence on the city, already heir of the Etruscan civilization.
