o, with a height of 246 m of free fall, it is the highest permanent waterfall in Mexico. The Basaseachi waterfall is located at the top of the Sierra Madre Occidental, in the municipality of Ocampo, 3 km from the town of Basaseachi and about 265 km west of the city of Chihuahua, its environment constitutes the Cascada de Basaseachi National Park officially declared in the official gazette of the federation on February 2, 1981 during the government of José López Portillo with a protected area of 498 km². The main waterfall is formed by the current of two streams, the Durazno stream and the Basaseachi stream, which join at the top of the mountain and then rush down the ravine, from the waterfall the stream is called the Candameña River Like the ravine that runs through it, the Candameña River is one of those that make up the Mayo River.
