The sunset at the Manialtepec Lagoon is a natural spectacle that paints the sky and water in vibrant shades. The experience culminates with the phenomenon of bioluminescence, when the water in the lagoon shines brightly at nightfall. The lagoon is home to microorganisms called dinoflagellates that glow in the dark. When moving the water, the plankton emits a bright blue light, visible when it is already at night.
