This tour is here to provide you with far reaching insight of the historical locations hidden in the forest, see the ruins of Hitler's house and other WWII sights that will bring history to life. Then hike up from there to the Eagle's Nest and you will following the steps of the first American soldiers that got there by foot in May 1945. Even though the Eagle's Nest is one of the most visited places in Germany our tour will take us thru a more richer and less traveled path. The tour is a mix world history, exercise and incredible landscapes. You'll then travel in one of the mountain buses up to the Eagle's Nest and be shown around the historic building paying particular attention to the many original features that still remain, including the famous brass elevator. The tour will include ample opportunities to take photos and ask any questions you may have. The tour also includes ca. 1 hour of free time to yourselves once the guide has finished with all of the historical information. However this is flexible and can be extended (at no additional cost) if you'd like to spend longer up at the Eagle's Nest. Simply speak to your guide on the day of tour and they will be able to make the necessary amendment to your ticket.

As a town, it’s roots go back to 1102 AD, and it’s existence is deeply connected to the salt mines in this town that enriched the entire region, therefore passing hands from nobility and clergy until it joined Bavaria in 1810. On the foothills of the famous Watzmann mountain seen in “The Sound of Music”, it is no wonder that even the bavarian royalty chose it as one of their residences. Later on Adolf Hitler took interest as well, later building his mountain residence at Obersalzberg and making Berchtesgaden a nazi stronghold during the World War II. This tour will give all the hindsight on these and many more details, stories and less known facts about a little alpine town that once had a hand in international affairs.
