Trains run from early spring through December, so arrive at least 30 minutes before departure time for boarding and any pre-ordered picnic pickup. The train runs rain or shine, so dress for the weather and prepare to be seated in your assigned coach or accessible space.

This Skunk Train route takes you from Willits over the Summit of the line to Crowley and the Wolf Tree, before returning to your starting point.

• Historic ride: Settle in for a 2-hour, 16-mile round-trip train ride from Willits, traveling on a historic Diesel-Electric engine that follows the original Skunk Train railway.

• Scenic route: Climb to the Summit of the line at an elevation of 1,740 feet, then pass through Tunnel #2 as the route shifts from upland forest to the river canyon landscape.

• Multiple landscapes: Watch the scenery change as you descend into the Noyo River Canyon, then reach Crowley for a brief stop to view the distinctive Wolf Tree and its surrounding forest.

• Wolf Tree stop: Use the opportunity to get off the train at Crowley, stretch your legs, and experience the Wolf Tree area from the ground before reboarding for the return trip.

At the end of the round-trip, you arrive back in Willits where you disembark and can continue your plans independently.
