The Sine-Saloum is one of the most beautiful parts of Senegal. It is a swampy area with mangrove ,lagoons, open forests, dunes and sand islands. Part of the area is included in the parc National du Delta du Saloum. The area abounds with several monkeys species including the rare red colobus, and the range of habitats makes it particularly good for birding. A trip by pirogue down one of the river branches to see the pelicans, flamingos, martin fisherman and other birds or to visit some of the island fishing villages, is well worth doing.
