Your Experience

Shape your own Safi pottery in a two-hour masterclass inside a historic workshop guided by a traditional maalem.

Getting started

Arrive at the historic Safi workshop and check in for your Standard Group Workshop Session. You join a standard group workshop format with very small groups of no more than 5 guests. Once you are introduced to your maalem, you move to your workstation and get settled for your two-hour pottery masterclass.

What to expect

Historic Safi workshop

You spend the full session inside a long-established Safi workshop that has taught local pottery since 1925. The maalem leads you through the traditional master-to-apprentice method so you can create your own piece from scratch.

• Follow expert maalem guidance as you practice the master-to-apprentice method, with tips on centering, shaping, and refining your form during this two-hour session in the historic workshop.

• Shape your own finished pottery piece to take home; at the end, you keep the piece you create and leave with a tangible reminder of your time in Safi.

• Stay comfortable with aprons, sip mint tea during breaks, and receive photos of your experience so you can focus on the wheel while your moments are documented.
