Private Tour of Dunkerque 1940 "Operation Dynamo" from Arras

This was the site of the massacre of 97 soldiers from the Royal Norfolk Regiment by the SS Division Totenkopf on 27th May 1940 during the retreat to Dunkirk

The Dunkirk War Museum is located in the harbour at Bastion 32, it was the headquarters for the French and Allied forces during the Battle.

The evacuation beach hasn't really changed since 1940, it is estimated that two-thirds of those rescued were evacuated by the Eastern Mole (the pier)

The 58m high belfry is the landmark of Dunkirk, facing the Saint-Eloi church. Stop for lunch in a café in town.

In May 1940, the Zuydcoote Sanatrium was converted into a field hospital for the retreating allied troops and operated until the end of the evacuation. Nearby on the beach the wreck of Crested Eagle can be seen at low tide, it was attacked by German dive bombers and sunk on 28th May 1940

It served in May and June 1940 as the headquarters of the French 12th Division.
