Join us for a private experience of the Famous Kallur Lighthouse on the mythical island of Kalsoy. This trip follows a similar itinerary to our small group experience, but rather then traveling with others you will have our driver guide all to yourself, and we’ll do our best to avoid the crowds for your own private enjoyment.
Kalsoy, often referred to as the Faroe Islands’ very own ‘James Bond Island,’ gained international recognition as a filming location for the 2020 Bond movie ‘No Time to Die.’ However, its allure predates its cinematic fame, having long been a top destination for visitors to the Faroes. This mythical island hosts the renowned Kallur Lighthouse and the captivating Seal Woman statue, two of the most emblematic landmarks on the islands. Join us for an exclusive afternoon tour, led by a local expert guide, to explore and experience the best Kalsoy has to offer without the hassle of crowds.
Klaksvik, Faroe Islands
Setting out from Tórshavn, our journey takes us through the one of world’s most unique subsea tunnels that features a roundabout, weaving along scenic fjords and passing through additional tunnels enroute to Klaksvík. Known as the Faroe Islands’ second-largest city, Klaksvík’s population of approximately 5,000 is cradled amidst towering mountains and serene fjords. From there, a 20-minute ferry ride transports us to the island of Kalsoy, where we’ll be treated to the awe-inspiring sights of the northern islands’ dramatic landscapes.
Kalsoy, Faroe Islands
Upon reaching Kalsoy and soaking up the initial views, we continue our drive to Trøllanes, the island’s northernmost village, which serves as the starting point for our hike to the Kallur Lighthouse.
Faroe Islands
The hike is not particularly challenging although you should have some basic hiking experience. It will take us through fields dotted with sheep and wild birdlife, offering an intimate glimpse into the Faroese wilderness. Perched on the island’s northern tip, the lighthouse stands amidst towering cliffs and dramatic terrain, presenting a sight to behold. Upon arrival, you’ll be treated to lunch with ample time to take in the breathtaking surroundings. On clear days, the legendary figures of the Giant and the Witch can be seen in the distance, said to have attempted to drag the Faroe Islands towards Iceland. The opposite side of Kalsoy affords views of Cape Enniberg, the Faroes’ northernmost point and one of the world’s tallest sea cliffs, standing at 758 meters. After a rewarding lunch and panoramic vistas, the journey back to Trøllanes begins.
Mikladalur, Faroe Islands
Following this, we proceed to the charming village of Mikladalur, also known as “Mighty Valley,” where we will visit the Seal Woman statue (Kópakonan). Here, you’ll learn about the legendary tale that has elevated her to one of the most emblematic figures in the islands. In Mikladalur you'll have the possibility of visiting the local Café: Café Eðge.
