Amboseli is famous for its big game and its great scenic beauty, and the landscape is dominated by the towering Mount Kilimanjaro in the backdrop. Large concentrations of wildlife occur here in the dry season, making Amboseli a popular tourist destination. In addition to the guaranteed elephant sightings, you’ll also see wildebeest and zebras, and you have a reasonable chance of spotting lions, cheetahs, and hyenas and in a rare dramatic show a kill. The park is also home to over 370 bird species, and it has an excellent array of lodges and an agreeably mild, dry climate.
Depart Nairobi for Amboseli National Park, a drive of less than 5 hours to Amboseli, which lies on the floors of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will arrive with a short game drive, proceeding to your lodge for check-in and lunch. Check-in at your hotel. Later afternoon more game drives. Mount Kilimanjaro offers scenic backgrounds for photography Elephants, Lions, Cheetah, and Buffalo can be seen in the swamp area. Later dinner and overnight at the lodge.
The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here, ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli to wetlands with sulfur springs, the savannah, and woodlands. Game drive until around 12 hours, lunchtime. Afterward, check out of the park then drive to Nairobi, a less than 5-hour drive to Nairobi. You will arrive at Nairobi in the evening around 5 to 6 p.m. Afterward, drop off at your respective hotel or Airport.
