pp and enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message. The riddles take you from the quayside up through the layers of Newcastle's long history. Your first landmark is the Grainger Market, the magnificent covered market built by Richard Grainger in 1835, whose long colonnaded aisles house over 100 stalls and represent Victorian market architecture at its most impressive — still fully operational and buzzing with daily life. From there the app guides you to St Nicholas Cathedral, the city's Anglican cathedral whose distinctive lantern tower — one of only four surviving medieval crown steeples in Britain — has guided travellers to Newcastle across the Tyne for over 600 years. The route then brings you to Newcastle Castle, the Norman keep that gave the city its name, whose Black Gate still stands above the railway driven through the castle precincts in the 19th century — a collision of medieval and industrial history. Around 2 hours on foot. The quayside is one of the finest riverside walks in northern England.
