Once ingredients are chosen and all food purchases are made, continue to the kitchen space to begin your cooking experience and traditional Kenyan meal preparation.

What to expect

Local farmer's market visit and tour

Your first stop is a local farmer's market, where stalls are filled with the fresh produce and staples used in Kenyan homes every day. This is where the market-to-table journey begins as you walk through the aisles with your chef.

Features

• Market-to-table comes to life as you shop for fresh ingredients at a local market with your chef, learning how choices here shape the flavors of dishes like ugali, nyama choma, chapati, sukuma wiki, pilau, and mandazi.

• A guided local farmer's market visit and tour is included, and all food purchases are covered so every item you select for your traditional Kenyan meal preparation is taken care of.

Hands-on traditional Kenyan cooking class

After the market, head into the kitchen for a hands-on traditional Kenyan cooking class focused on real home-style methods. You prepare a complete spread that reflects everyday Kenyan cooking and the stories behind each dish.

Features

• Cook iconic dishes such as ugali, nyama choma, chapati, sukuma wiki, pilau, and mandazi while discovering the history and meaning behind each meal through cultural stories.

• The experience includes a hands-on traditional Kenyan cooking class with recipe takeaways, so you leave with recipes to recreate the flavors at home and a clear understanding of traditional Kenyan meal preparation.

Traditional techniques and cultural immersion

The class emphasizes how food and daily life connect, using traditional tools and cooking methods. Throughout the activity, you are invited into a cultural immersion that goes beyond recipes.

Features

• Traditional techniques are demonstrated as you grind spices, cook on a jiko or open fire where available, and follow real home-style methods that shape Kenyan cooking.

• Cultural immersion throughout the activity is central, and the session ends in a family-style feast where you sit and eat together the Kenyan way, turning your cooking experience into a shared meal.

Convenience and logistics

Once the meal is done and the class concludes, your travel back to your accommodation is included.

Features

• Round-trip transfers are part of the experience, covering hotel pick-up and drop-off so you can focus fully on the market tour, cooking experience, and cultural immersion without arranging transport yourself.
