Our first stop is in Konjic, where the 17th-century Old Stone Bridge spans the emerald Neretva. The drive through the Neretva River canyon that follows is among the most beautiful in the Balkans.

Our second stop on the way to the south is in the town of Jablanica. We will see a famous WW2 battle for the wounded site.

Počitelj arrives like a dream carved into limestone. This UNESCO-listed Ottoman fortress village climbs steeply between stone roofed houses, pomegranate bushes, and centuries old monuments - mosque, medresa and hamam all visible in a single breathtaking glance from the 45 metre Kula fortress above the Neretva.

On the way to Blagaj Dervish Monastery we will stop to see beautiful Buna river canals, where it joins the river Neretva.

In Blagaj, time slows entirely. The 16th century Dervish Monastery, built where the Buna River emerges from the foot of a cliff, has drawn Roman nobility, Ottoman viziers, and Austro-Hungarian officers for centuries. Standing in its garden, cooled by the river, you will understand why.

The day culminates in Mostar. The iconic Stari Most bridge, built in 1566 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005, arches 24 metres above the Neretva. Explore the 16th-century Kujundžiluk bazaar and discover Mostar's living Ottoman heritage in one of Bosnia's most unforgettable cities.
