Getting started

On arrival at the kite center in the Stagnone Lagoon area, you check in and get matched with your certified instructor for the 6-hour basic kitesurfing course. After settling in at the kite center facilities, you begin with an initial theoretical kitesurfing briefing that covers wind, equipment, and basic safety concepts before moving to the water-based part of the lesson.

Stagnone Lagoon in Sicily is characterized by flat water and a shallow seabed, which creates a controlled environment for learning kitesurfing. The lagoon sits inside the protected nature of the Stagnone Reserve and benefits from constant wind, making it one of the windiest kitesurfing locations in Europe for much of the year.

• Throughout the 6-hour basic kitesurfing course, a certified instructor stays with you, providing direct in-water supervision from first body-drag attempts to controlled board starts. Personalized guidance and modern equipment support you as you build technique step by step.

• All kitesurfing equipment and safety gear are provided, including kite, bar, board, harness, Lycra suit, boots, wetsuit, life jacket, and helmet, so you do not need to bring technical gear with you. You use radio assistance systems during the session, which allow the instructor to give you real-time feedback while you are in the water.

• Your experience starts with an initial theoretical kitesurfing briefing where you learn how to assess wind conditions and understand your setup before launching the kite. Assistance with kite takeoff and landing is included, and you have access to the kite center facilities throughout the activity for changing, resting, and preparing between practice segments.
