Marrakech Small-Group Walking Tour: Bahia Palace, Medina & Souks

Begin the tour in Marrakech’s famous main square, where your guide introduces the history of the city, the Medina, and how the old town is organized. This is also an important orientation point to help you understand Marrakech before entering the narrow streets of the souks.

From Jemaa el-Fna, your guide explains the history, architecture, and importance of the Koutoubia Mosque, Marrakech’s best-known landmark. The mosque is not visited as a separate stop during the tour, but guests can easily walk to its exterior later during their free time.

Walk through Marrakech’s historic Jewish Quarter and learn about the long presence of Jewish communities in Morocco, their role in trade and local life, and the history of the Mellah within the old city.

Visit one of Marrakech’s most important historic palaces and discover its courtyards, decorative craftsmanship, architecture, and the story of the powerful figures who lived and worked here. Entrance is paid separately.

Walk through one of Marrakech’s busiest and best-known souks, lined with textiles, traditional clothing, leather goods, carpets, lamps, and handicrafts. Your guide explains how the souks are organized, how different trades developed within the Medina, and what to look for as you move deeper into the market.

Continue through the leather section of the souks, where your guide explains how leather goods have traditionally been produced and sold in Marrakech. See local workshops and small businesses that remain part of the Medina’s working economy.

Your guide explains the different products made here and the importance of these crafts in everyday Moroccan life.
