Kosovo Highlights in a Day Pristina, Prizren and Wine Finale

We’ll start the day like locals do — with a complimentary coffee at a nearby café. It’s a great chance for us to introduce ourselves, chat a bit, and get to know each other before diving into the tour. Of course, if you've already had your coffee at the hotel, we can skip it and head straight into the walk — totally up to you!

We’ll begin with a guided walk through Prishtina’s central pedestrian zone, starting from the Grand Hotel and heading toward Skanderbeg Square. Along the way, we’ll see the Mother Teresa statue and key institutions such as the Government and Assembly buildings, the historic Hotel Union, and the grand Skanderbeg statue.

Step inside Prishtina’s modern cathedral dedicated to Mother Teresa, then ride the elevator up the left tower for a spectacular 360° view over the capital. From the top, we’ll take in panoramic views of the city, from the university campus and the iconic National Library to the growing skyline of “new” Prishtina. It’s a perfect way to appreciate the city’s diverse architecture and layout from a zoomed-out perspective.

Next Stop: Prizren – Kosovo’s Cultural Heart After finishing our tour in Prishtina, we’ll drive about 1 hour and 10 minutes south to Prizren. This is usually where we take our lunch break and enjoy some traditional food in the heart of the old town. Prizren has a very different feel from the capital. It’s known for its well-preserved Ottoman and Byzantine architecture, religious landmarks, and relaxed atmosphere. The city is built around a river, with old stone bridges, historic buildings, and narrow streets filled with local shops and cafés. It’s a great place to walk, take photos, and experience the blend of cultures that have shaped Kosovo over the centuries.

Nestled in the heart of Prizren’s old town, this 17th-century mosque is one of Kosovo’s most admired Ottoman-era landmarks. Its grand dome, slender minaret, and vibrant painted interior offer a glimpse into the region’s Islamic heritage. After exploring the mosque, we’ll enjoy a complimentary cup of tea in the courtyard—a cherished Kosovar tradition often shared after a good meal, reflecting our warm hospitality and love for simple moments.

Towering above the city, the Prizren Fortress offers a commanding view and a glimpse into the city’s medieval past. While we won’t hike up due to our tight schedule, we’ll pause below to explore its rich history and significance, an essential piece in understanding Prizren’s strategic and cultural role over the centuries.

We’ll visit the Orthodox Cathedral of St. George, a symbol of Prizren’s complex past. Damaged during the 2004 unrest and later rebuilt, the church reflects the city’s layered history. Inside, we’ll also step into the adjacent “Little Church,” where centuries-old frescoes still survive—offering a rare glimpse into Prizren’s religious diversity and the challenges of coexistence in the Balkans.

Our final spiritual stop is the Albanian Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, quietly nestled in the heart of Prizren. This modest yet meaningful church completes a rare picture of coexistence—just steps away from a mosque and an Orthodox church, it stands as a living testament to Prizren’s centuries-long tradition of interfaith harmony in a region often marked by division.

This landmark marks a pivotal chapter in Albanian history. Founded in 1878, the League brought together leaders determined to defend Albanian territories and identity as the Ottoman Empire unraveled. Inside the museum, we’ll explore not only the political legacy of the League but also a beautiful collection of traditional Albanian clothing from various regions. Here, you’ll uncover why Albanians are spread across six Balkan countries — a gripping story of resistance, lost borders, and an unbreakable national spirit.

After exploring Prizren, we’ll take a scenic drive toward Theranda (Suhareka), a region known for its vineyards and wine production. At a local family-run winery, we’ll enjoy a guided tasting of several regional wines and take a short tour to learn about the winemaking process. This relaxing and flavorful stop is included in the tour price—an ideal way to unwind and reflect on the day’s journey through Kosovo.
