The Grey Glacier Ice Hike is a unique 5-hour adventure that offers the rare opportunity to walk directly on the ice of one of Torres del Paine’s most iconic glaciers.
Once the group is ready, a zodiac boat will transport you to a remote beach near the glacier's edge. There, you'll hike for about an hour across the rocky moraine to reach the starting point. After a comprehensive safety briefing from the guide, you'll strap on your crampons and embark on a 2.5-hour trek across the glacier’s surface—an unforgettable journey through a frozen world of crevasses, blue ice, and breathtaking scenery.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: To be able to take the tour at 8:30 AM it is essential to overnight at Grey Camping or Refugio the night before To be able to do the tour at 2:30 PM it is essential to overnight at the Camping or Refugio Grey at the end of the activity
After assembling, you’ll board a zodiac boat for a 20-minute ride to the glacier. Once there, you’ll disembark near the glacier wall and hike for about one hour across the moraine to reach the ice. Your guide will provide a safety briefing, and then you’ll begin a two-and-a-half-hour hike on the glacier, exploring crevasses, rivers, lagoons, tunnels, and ice caves. At the end of the trek, you’ll return to the beach and board the zodiac for the return to Grey Base Camp, where snacks and hot drinks await.
- Starts: From the meeting point "Grey Base Camp" located inside Torres del Paine Park at 8:30 am or 2:30 pm (depending on the selected option). The tour does not include transportation from Puerto Natales!
