Your experience

Getting started

Meet your guide at the designated starting point in central Málaga. After a short introduction to the route and walking pace, you set off on foot into the historic center. The group stays together throughout, following a planned walking route that links major landmarks with lesser-known streets.

What to expect

Alcazaba and Roman Theatre

Your route leads to the Alcazaba fortress and the adjacent Roman Theatre, where Málaga's Roman and Muslim past sit side by side.

Features

• At the Roman Theatre, you observe how Málaga's Roman history appears at the foot of the Alcazaba, giving you a clear view of two architectural worlds colliding in one place.

• Around the Alcazaba, your expert guide explains how Phoenician, Roman, and Muslim influences shaped the early city as you look at visible remains and surrounding streets.

• Your expert guide uses the site to connect ancient roots to the rest of the walking route.

Cathedral "La Manquita"

You continue through the historic center to Málaga Cathedral, locally known as "La Manquita" because of its unfinished appearance.

Features

• Outside the Cathedral "La Manquita", your guide points out the missing tower and other details that tell the story of its unfinished state and long construction.

• This stop deepens the narrative of Málaga's evolution from earlier periods to its later Christian chapter, linking what you see at the Cathedral with earlier Roman and Muslim landmarks.

• Your guide shares live explanations about "La Manquita" and its unfinished story as part of the tour.

Larios Street and hidden streets

From the Cathedral, the walk continues along Larios Street and into nearby hidden and narrow streets that reveal different sides of Málaga's past.

Features

• On Larios Street, the city's main street, you hear about Málaga's Golden Age while you walk past its architecture and commercial heart.

• The route including Alcazaba, Roman Theatre, Cathedral and Larios Street is combined with a walking route through hidden streets and Picasso's Málaga, so you experience both headline sights and backstreet corners.

• In the narrow streets off the main avenues, your guide shares stories from Málaga's dark Inquisition times and points out details you would likely miss on your own.

• These hidden areas also connect to Picasso's Málaga, with your guide highlighting places tied to his life and explaining how art and history intersect here, adding curiosities that you will not find in any guidebook.
