Getting started

Arrive at the Essaouira craft complex and check in for your Standard Group Workshop Session. You meet your henna artist instructor and settle into the workspace with your group. Once everyone is ready, the guided henna workshop begins with an introduction to the tools and materials you will be using.

What to expect

You spend about an hour inside the Essaouira craft complex, surrounded by working artisans as you focus on henna art. The session follows a clear progression, from understanding henna paste to practising motifs and finally applying them to the hand.

Features

• The guided henna workshop starts with how henna paste is prepared, taking you from the dried leaf to the filled cone so you understand the material before you draw with it.

• With the henna artist, you draw traditional motifs step by step, starting on canvas and fabric so you can practise shapes and lines without pressure.

• Henna, cones and all materials are provided for the Standard Group Workshop Session, so you do not need to bring anything to take part fully.

• Once you are comfortable, you try the patterns on the hand, then enjoy a short break with water and mint tea while souvenir photos capture your finished designs and time inside the Essaouira craft complex.
