This is a self-guided city game built on a true story: the day Ghent defied Emperor Charles V and paid the price for it. You don't follow a guide reciting dates. You step into 1540 as one of its citizens, make choices as the events close in around you, and discover why the people of Ghent proudly call themselves noose bearers to this day. The story goes beyond the tourist trail, mixing the city's icons with quiet streets most visitors never find, and it saves one last surprise for the very end.
We offer 24/7 customer support and built-in hints to guarantee that you never stay stuck. You set the pace: play anytime, at any hour, pause for a Belgian beer and resume whenever you want (even on another day).
It has easy difficulty and it's perfect for solo adventurers, couples, friends, families with older kids, or team-building events.
Your city has just said no to Emperor Charles V, the most powerful man alive, born right here, and now his army is marching on its walls. In this self-guided walking game you play Pieter, a proud citizen racing to save Ghent's ancient rights. You will start on St Michael's Bridge, with the city's famous three-tower skyline in front of you, then move through the medieval heart: the guild houses of the Graslei, the Gravensteen castle, the Prinsenhof where the Emperor himself was born, the Vrijdagmarkt, the Belfry, the Town Hall and St Bavo's Cathedral, before the story delivers you to its final surprise near the Stroppendrager statue. At each stop you will solve puzzles drawn from what you see around you, and the true events of 1540 unfold through the eyes of the people who lived them. You can play alone or bring your whole group, any day and any hour: just book a ticket and start whenever you want. The walk takes about 90-120 minutes with optional breaks, over roughly 2.5 km (1.5 miles).
The game starts on St Michael's Bridge. Before heading out to play, make sure to have downloaded the app "Questo" on your phone and created an account with the same email used for booking. The game will be automatically unlocked and available in the "Quests" section.
