Your Experience

Join a standard group weaving workshop at a local cooperative and create a handmade textile to take home.

Getting started

Arrive at the weaving cooperative and check in for your Standard Group Weaving Session. You meet your weaver host, who introduces the loom setup and the wool you will be using. After a short orientation to the workspace, you move to your station so the hands-on weaving of your handmade textile can begin.

What to expect

Traditional weaving workshop with handmade textile

This activity takes place inside a working cooperative where you learn traditional weaving techniques step by step. You work directly on a loom, preparing colors and weaving alongside other participants in a standard group workshop format.

Features

• Learn the basics of traditional weaving on a loom as your weaver host guides you through setting up and using the equipment, showing you how the warp and weft come together in a finished piece.

• Prepare colors on bobbins before weaving, choosing from the wool and loom materials provided so you can see how different shades and combinations appear once woven.

• Take part in hands-on weaving of a handmade textile, contributing to a plaid, cushion cover, or small rug and shaping the pattern with each line you add.

• Finish with your woven piece to take home, a textile you have helped create from start to finish that becomes a practical souvenir of the workshop.

• Enjoy Moroccan tea with pastries during a break, giving you time to rest your hands, talk with others in the group, and observe more weaving in progress.

• Receive a photo souvenir that captures you at the loom, documenting your time at the cooperative and your work on the textile.

• All activities and materials in this standard group workshop format are included, such as the weaver host, all wool and loom materials, hands-on weaving of a handmade textile, your woven piece to take home, Moroccan tea with pastries, and a photo souvenir. Transport to and from the cooperative is not included.
