Join a 2-hour Arabic and Moroccan calligraphy workshop in a standard group format guided by a local calligrapher.

Getting started

Arrive at the workshop space and check in for your standard group calligraphy workshop. You meet your local calligrapher, who introduces the 2-hour Arabic and Moroccan calligraphy workshop and lays out the plan for the session. Once everyone is settled, pens, inks, and paper are handed out so you can begin your first practice strokes.

What to expect

Arabic and Moroccan calligraphy workshop

You spend the full 2-hour session in one studio-style space, moving from basic strokes to writing full words under your instructor’s eye. The format is a standard group workshop, with up to 10 guests learning side by side while focusing on their own calligraphy piece.

Features

• Practice begins in classical Arabic script, then shifts to the Moroccan Maghrebi hand so you can write in both classical Arabic and Moroccan Maghrebi during the workshop. You learn what makes the Maghrebi script different from the eastern ones through direct comparison on the page.

• Guidance from a local calligrapher shapes every step, from how to hold the pen to composing your final layout. The instructor explains the differences between Maghrebi and eastern scripts in simple terms while demonstrating each style stroke by stroke.

• All pens, inks, and paper are provided, so you can focus fully on learning without bringing any materials. The standard group workshop format includes everything you need, plus mint tea that you can sip between practice rounds.

• As you grow more confident, you work on your name and a chosen calligraphy phrase, creating a personal calligraphy piece to take home. Photos of the workshop are included, capturing you and the group as you write and refine your work.
